Alan KET Cops Felony Plea In 1st of 3 Court Cases

The first of 3 trials in the case of publisher, journalist and yes, graffiti artist Alan Ket, resulted in a hard-negotiated plea deal wherein the artist would be charged with a felony but spared prison time.
“We went back and forth and we finally got it to something that said no probation, no jail, my lawyer (Ron Kuby) recommended 'You [not] spend the money, 'cause you might lose and go to prison' “
While the prospect of no prison for KET after this, the first of 3 trials which have shed light yet again on the overarching (to put it mildly) sentencing patterns given to art crimes May seem like a guarantee of Ket's immediate liberty, he views his life as practically altered by the felony conviction, which he insists he might have battled if he had the $50,000 that would be needed immediately.
When asked about whether this would frustrate any grant proposals he might apply for, Ket is uncertain.
