Just another Doom impostor?
Outside of his music, MF Doom has never been what society calls “dependable,” but new allegations this week are taking things to a whole new level. (Not that Byron Crawford and LiveJournal are all the reliable, but still.) In a nut shell, Doom stans who attended shows in LA and SF last week are questioning whether the real MF Doom even showed up. Here's a few clips of the LA show:
Ain't no one questioning the lip sync factor here….
I've seen Doom perform a half dozen times and those movements and gestures just don't fit with what I've seen in the past. But who really knows? His multiple publicists don't know. And his new label, [can't tell you yet records], hasn't responded (we'll get that for you yet, however…check back Thursday).
Thing is, Doom is all about the mystery of the multiple personalities. Viktor Vaughn, King Gheedorah, Madvillian, DangerDoom, Daniel Dumile, Zev Love X…nothing has been straight forward. On the inside, journalists have wondered for a few years now whether or not the man that showed up five hours late for an interview was even the real thing or not. That's just part of the game, but these new allegations aren't what real hip-hop is about. URB dot com will be staying on this, believe that.
