The Boy in Static is a little too close to an emo-electronica album, but since Violet still manages to astonish, I’ll let it slide. With a ballad of electronic snaps and true dream-pop vocals, each song feels color coded for any mood. ‘Where Is Ends’ feels blue while a richly painted ‘Dec’ takes a simple color and turns it into a masterpiece.
