Aside from the three major fashion trade shows Magic, Project and Pool, a small new upstart known as United Trade Show made a splash into the chaotic fashion scene last week. Hosting over 100 smaller brands inside of a bizarre resort hotel off the strip, this more intimate show was a lot less hectic than the other shows going on. URB got some good coverage and product shots speaking to some of these great brands.
We caught up with WESC Los Angeles store manager Geoff Nishimoto for a sneak peak into the fall and winter 07 line. Lots of great goodies, including a flannel pattern M-65 military coat, a quilted leather women's down jacket, and some great wool outerwear.
And we got more military goodies from LA based designer Toy Plane, who have created some nice checker flannel jackets and some interesting zip hoodies.
But some of the nicest hoodies we saw throughout the whole show were from SF based label Homeroom, whose custom hoodies have grown into an amazing label, with some original jewelry pieces as well. Founder Alex Valdman gives us a quick interview on their history and craftsmanship.
Some other great designs and screen printed shirts we saw were from Free Gold Watch, whose minimalist art deco patterns and humorous Mac Dre inspired tees had us talking with their designer Matthew to find out more about this young men's brand.
As far as hats go, Santa Barbara based Neff has some great snakeskin and 80s inspired prints that extend beyond their amazing caps and tees. We got to wrap with owner Sean Neff about some of his key designs.
And throughout the barrage of mens streetwear, we spotted this interesting vintage inspired clothing line, US Rags. Women's designer Bianca was kind enough to share a few words on how their t-shirt label spawned into an original full line, and gives us a preview into their fall collection.
