It’s a Kaskade marathon, and some Ben Sherman dress shirts are about to get mighty sweaty hanging buttons-open off the chiseled frames of dancing gay men. Here & Now, a double album retrospective of the DJ-producer-turned-Om A&R exec’s hit tracks, is full of dance-floor anthems that will make fans prance straight for the speakers. Songs we’re glad to hear on this Kaskade showcase project include the soft shuffle mix of ‘What I Say,’ jungle-tinted ‘Peace on Earth’ and the extended version of ‘Soundtrack to the Soul’ with that very sexy Anthony Green vocal. The Troydon mix of ‘I Like the Way,’ with choppy Collette vocals and shimmy-smooth backdrop of snares, is a highlight as it takes the mostly floaty compilation of Kaskade tunes back towards the realm of gravity. For fans of the Chicago-born music maker, Here & Now is a must-have addition to the CD stack. For those not familiar with Kaskade’s house sensibility, it’s a broad look at his best-known work. Party on, sweaty boys!
